The Veil of the Everyday The everyday is regarded as the normal state of living, and precisely for that reason, it is often overlooked. It operates through automated patterns that draw the individual into familiar orders. Under the dominance of function and efficiency, perception loses its depth; existence becomes sealed within predictable surfaces. Objects play a double role in this process: they sustain the stability of life while constraining reflection on the world itself. Through repetition of form and use, they solidify the relation between humans and things, reducing the complexity of existence to convenience and habitual continuity. The Everyday and the Exceptional Mind The “exceptional mind” does not arise from external revelation; it is generated within the everyday. It manifests as a deviation from inertia—a subtle interruption through which one reconfigures the relation between self and the world. Artistic creation takes place within this deviation. It does not seek symbolic transcendence, but through adjustments of material and form, reveals the layers obscured by habit.
